PACHMARHI

This tiny hill station tucked in the Satpura Valley makes an ideal getaway from routine life. KHAJURAHO

TKhajuraho is on the itinerary complementing Delhi, Agra and Varanasi as it was inaccessible but now with a new train introduced from Bhopal and an Airport coming at Khajuraho, this architectural marvel and pilgrimage centre has been attracting a lot of tourists. The Khajuraho Group of Monuments are famous for its world famous Hindu and Jain temples and is now a UNESCO and World Heritage Site. The best way to see Khajuraho is to tour the Western Group of Temples, the Eastern Group of temples and the Southern Group of Temples.

The Western Group temples are Hindu temples, the Kandariya Mahadev Temple, the Lakshmana Temple, the Devi Jagadamba Temple, the Chitragupta Temple, the Vishvanatha Temple and the Nandi Temple.

The Eastern Group of Temples most of them, Jain Temples that deserve a visit are the Brahma Temple, Vamana Temple, Javari Temple, Parsavanatha Temple, Adinatha Temple, Ganthai Temple and the Shantinatha Temple.

The Southern Group of Temples comprise of three temples, the Chaturbhuj Temple, the Duladeo Temple and the Beejamandal Temple.

INDORE – MANDU

A holiday in Mandu is like living in a huge fort surrounded by battlemented walls and 12 Gateways. KANHA AND BANDHAVGARH

This holiday is for the wildlife enthusiast who have the thirst of viewing the tiger in its natural habitat. Both Kanha and Bandhavgarh (207 km apart) are Tiger reserves that give you the opportunity to see the tiger at close quarters if you are lucky. Unlike the Lion, the tiger is a shy animal and keeps away from humans, there are many a times that you do not get to see him on a safari but be in no doubt that he has spotted you. Kanha and Bandhavgarh have rustic and modern jungle resorts in the buffer zone. Apart from the tiger the other animals that reside in the two jungles are leopards, wild dogs, wild cats, foxes, jackals, Indian gaur, hard ground swamp deer (or barasingha is pride of the jungle as it is the only subspecies of swamp deer in India) Other from the deer family are the spotted deer, sambhars, barking der and the four horned antelope. Places to visit whist staying in Kanha are Bamni Dadar also called sunset point and the Kanha Museum. Places to visit at Bandhavgarh are Baghel Museum, Bandhavgarh ancient caves and Climbers Point.

GWALIOR – JHANSI – ORCHHA – AGRA

This unusual tour makes a great historical holiday. Also in the Shatabdi Express route (Agra, Gwalior and Jhansi) this tour is not to be missed. You could start from Gwalior to see the one of the majestic palaces of India – The Jai Vilas Palace and Museum and the third biggest fort, the Gwalior Fort. The Sound and Light Show at the Gwalior Fort take you down memory lane to the 110 Kings that have lived in the fort. The Jhansi fort is a big attraction, famous for its battle against the British in 1857-58, it is from the ramparts of this fort that the Rani’s horse jumped and saved the Rani’s life as she headed for Kalpi and later to Gwalior. Not very far from Jhansi is Orchha famous for its Bundelkhandi architecture, visit the Raja Mahal, Jehangir Mahal, Ram Raja Temple, Chaturbhuj Temple, Phool Baug to name a few. Jhansi and Orchha is a day trip from Gwalior. Leave Gwalior for Agra – The city of the Taj Mahal, one can also visit the Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Itimad Ud Daulah and Sikandra.

UJJAIN – INDORE – MAHESHWAR - OMKARESHWAR

Indore is the main getaway to this pilgrimage tour. Whilst in Indore visit the Rajwada, Lalbaug Palace, Indore Museum.

From Indore visit Ujjain to pay your respects to Lord Shiva visit the Mahakaleshwar Temple. Whilst in Ujjain also visit the Shiva Temple, Bade Ganeshji ka Mandir, Bharathruhari Caves, Harsiddhi Temple, Mangaldas Mandir and the Mahakaleshwari Shatipeeth.
